Ashok Kumar Chakma has been working for Moanoghar as Executive Director from June 2012 until now. He is a former student of Moanoghar (took admission in 1991). He did his Honours and Masters in Economics from Dhaka University. Later he did a second Masters in Development Practice (Advanced) focusing on Social Planning from the University of Queensland, Australia. Before joining Moanoghar he was involved in social research and community development for more than one decade. He worked in the position of Executive Director at Trinamul Unnayan Sangstha a local NGO in Khagrachari for more than five years. He also worked for AIPP, a regional platform of indigenous peoples in Asia, based in Chiang Mai in Thailand. His areas of works were on monitoring the compliances of Indigenous Safeguard Policies of the international financial institutions (IFIs). He had experience to work as individual consultant for various local NGOs and international development agencies such as UNDP-CHTDF in the areas of education and governance in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT). He received training in different subjects such as human resources management, financial management, project planning and management etc.
